Eureka Quilt Top

Shirley C. beat us all to the punch and finished her Eureka Quilt Top ON TIME!!! Great job Shirley. Beautiful color choices, wonderful placement of fabrics and of course, lots and lots of patience went into the making of this top. Oh, Shirley is the envy of everyone in the Cambridge Class, including me. We all worked frantically on our quilt tops that day. We will get them done soon, wait and see. Meanwhile, we can admire Shirley's quilt and aspire to greatness. Aaahhhhh....

What Do You Think of My Garden???

It is pieced. My "Bridgecreek Blossoms" garden seemed to have a will of it's own, just like the most well planned and planted garden. I had planned a striped inner border and then another border of the background fabric. This is what it told me to sew and "sew" I did. Quilting it in a floral pattern or in swirls seems to be the best thing. It is very pleasing to me and I hope it reminds you of your garden too.

How Does Our Garden Grow?

So, okay, everything I think will take me about 2 days usually ends up taking 5. This is progress of the indoor garden "Bridgecreek Blossoms". I have added some setting triangles and sewn the rows together. It is looking very nice. Deb and I decided borders, different of course, from the pattern but the same dimensions. It's gonna be great!!! Now, to find the time!

Star Light, Star Bright

This is one of my favorite quilts of all time. Sorry about the blurry picture, I just couldn't get this one to focus!
It is "Star Light Star Bright" by Sue Weeden of "The Other Sister" designs. I always have this out in spring, it is so cheery. The quilt is 42" x 51" and has a wonderful piano key border with paper pieced corners. So easy to do too. Great design Sue. So cheerful and springy!!!

Blossoms

It's a beautiful day outside today and that means less people in the shop. I know they are busy planting and raking and weeding!!! I decided to "plant" some blossoms of my own today and I started on the pattern "Bridge Creek Blossoms" by Terry Atkinson. I "planted" my blossoms on brown and used jewel tones for the flowers. I am thinking a striped inner border to remind me of a fence and some scattered floral fabric for the outside border. Watch with me as they "bloom"!

Egrets? Pelicans? I can't decide!

Looking out the window on Monday morning I saw an amazing sight; at least 50 birds landed in the river in front of our house and started fishing and resting. Obviously they were migrating. They were awesome!!! Big bills on the white ones and the little ones must have been in the loon family because they fished in that style. I could not get close of course but the little ones were probably the size of a thanksgiving turkey so you can imagine how large the white ones were!!! So cool!!!

Jill C.'s Antique Grandmother's Flower Garden‏

Jill C. brought us a treat on Monday, her Grandmother's Flower Graden hand made by her own grandmother. It is also hand quilted. Most of the blocks are fussy cut so they are a ring of flowers forming the flower garden block. What a treasure!!!

Paper Pieced Wonder Quilt

Carmella H. made this fantastic paper pieced quilt for her daughter, Toni. Each block is paper pieced using Jinny Beyer fabrics and Jinny's pattern. It is a spectacular swirl of color and design. Carm never does anything small so she had to purchase the fabric for four quilt tops to make this king size!!! And she STILL ran out of a few fabrics before the end. Mitered corners make up a wonderful framed finish for this exciting top. Congratulations, Carmella, on a job well done!!!

Love Those Purses!!

Nancy P. from Whitewater loves to make purses!!! When she brought in a whole display of them this morning I was astounded!!! They are all the same pattern but you can see how she made each one unique with fabric choices, embellishments and thread. She said she made so many purses she broke her sewing machine, it is in the repair shop. We love all the colors and textures of these treasures. Thanks for the inspiration Nancy!!! Hope your machine comes home soon so you can make some more!!!

Stocked Pantry Raffle Quilt by Stonemill Quilters of Whitewater

This Queen size quilt was made by members of the Stonemill Quilt Guild in Whitewater. We each made a block or two, got together a couple of times at the shop to put the top together and then Marge W. quilted it and Ann G. finished up on the binding and put on the label. This is a raffle quilt to benefit the Whitewater food pantry and it is called: "Stocked Pantry". It is just adorable, all stars are food fabrics with a black background and the sashing is green with cherries and leaves fabric as the sashing posts and on the back. Marge quilted a large cherry/leaf motif in green thread. Looks good enough to eat!!! Great job ladies!!!

Kim's Great Skirts!

Isn't this picture just the sweetest? And it isn't just because of the gummi fish fabric. :)
Kim, who is a great customer of our online store, sent us this great picture of her and her daughter in these fantastic skirts she made from our gummi fish fabric that she bought at the online store.
Great job, Kim! Keep up the good work, and be sure to send us plenty more pictures!

Perfect Pouches from Lazy Girl Designs' Joan Hawley‏

These little pouches are perfect for the big totes and purses we have been making at the shop lately. The smallest is about 6 inches and the biggest 12 inches. Make them from fat quarters or leftovers from your purse or pouch and they are perfect for anything you wish to put in them!! There are instructions in the pattern to make them into pockets too and actually put them into the purse or tote as you make it. So cool!!! I made each pouch in about an hour using Terry and Liz's Paisley Party fabric. Don't they look like a breath of spring??

This post is in the Hooked on Friday's Party. Go and visit the party!

Nancy V.'s Amazing Artistry

Wow!!! A while ago we showed you the little picture of Monet's painting of his wife, Camile, on a hill recreated by Nancy V. in fabric. Nancy V. has added her excellent recreation of that little painting to her wallhanging of Monet PAINTING that painting. Whew! What a gal. Everything is so true to the colors of the era and to the life of the artist. Nancy has a collection of these renditions of artists painting their paintings which we will feature here at the shop this fall. Congratulations Nancy on a job well done, and stay tuned for more fabulous works from Nancy. What inspiration!
